O.K. I saw the Dr. tonight. I have something called "sick sinus syndrome". My heart rate is pumping around 30 to 50 beats per minute. So after the reunion I will be having a pacemaker put in. I'll fill in all the finer details when I'm in Branson. Good night and Good luck.

I called Rick tonight and at first when Joe answered the phone, I thought it was Rick! Julie normally answers the phone, (having raised 2 girls and four boys I've learned the guys never had a chance getting to the phone first) ANYWAY, I couldn't believe how deep his voice has gotten!!! It will be strange to see Joe towering over me too!!!

Sure Rick, go ahead, take my moment of sun in the infirmary! You always had to tag along with everything I did. Now this! Well, we'll see. Tomorrow we'll find out if I get the deluxe model and your doc didn't even give you the option! For those that don't know, the deluxe model includes a defibrillator. Rick's doc said his tests didn't indicate that he needs one. Tomorrow I have one last test to see if my heart may need a shock now and then. I'll fill you in after tomorrow. For those that knew nothing about this, I've been "tracking" my heart for a little while now. About a month ago, the docs really got involved and informed me that Sick Sinus Syndrome runs in our family. That basically is a very slow heart rate and, for me anyway an irregular heart beat. My heart pauses whenever it feels like it. To correct this, a pacemaker is implanted. Stick this info in your family history file in the event you may need it.
you guys....what am I going to do with you. I guess I better have a heart physical. With all the electrical gadgets I have I hope this is not one I'll need but it is worth checking out.

oh wow...I have a pretty slow heart rate (usually about 60 per minute) and an irregular heart beat too. Dr told me it was a sinus arrythmia (sp?)...years ago..
sometimes genetics is not fun! lol Good to know it has a name.
