Update on today's activities
I had the EP Study on my heart today, and I'm happy to report that the doctor found all the circuitry in my heart is fine. He said "you will not die." Did I tell you about this doc's bedside manner? The problem is in the sinus node and the pacemaker will take care of that. I will say this test has left me feeling pretty washed out. I was in twilight sleep during the procedure, so I don't remember most of it. Maybe making your heart race makes you as tired as a real race! Afterward, it was kind of interesting. First, my heart was beating normally and at a good pace. After a while, my heart started to speed up and my blood pressure went way down. They got that under control, but I think that coupled with the drugs are why I feel kind of crappy. The good news is that when my heart was beating normally, I felt pretty good. Another sign and another reason why I am hopeful the the pacemaker will make me a new woman! I don't have a date yet, but it looks like sometime during the week of the 20th. I should have no problem at the reunion and will probably leave you all in the dust when we hike the mountains!

Rick and Eileen, I think you're carrying this "togetherness" thing a bit too far!!! By the way I have two extra sinus cavities in my head - does that count? Can I join your club? You guys better pray for me for this reunion - Eileen, you'll run rings around me even if you crawl!!!! A turtle
would even laugh at me! I thought I was going to be hiking and kayaking - instead, I'll be "oy-ing"!!! ALOT!!!!!
Are you going to need the defibulator or just the pacemaker.
Just the pacemaker with two leads. Seriously, yesterday was the best news I could have gotten. Tim and Lyn may have had this problem, and yes, untreated it can lead to heart failure. Lyn had signs of that with the increased blood pressure and the water retention in her ankles, etc. However, if sick sinus syndrome is treated (with a pacemaker) pretty much, you're made whole. Life expectancy is the same as someone without the issue. Those that have the ciruitry problems and heart racing are the folks that die suddenly. I'm in the clear for that, so all in all, I'd say that's a good thing! However, sympathy, drama and flowers are appreciated by those with heart conditions :)
