Hello to the whole Laverty Gang!
I have been thinking about the next Family Reunion. A while ago Eileen asked who would step up to the plate to coordinate the next one and I said I am willing, and although I have not heard anything either way, I decided to get the ball rolling.
I guess we need to start by choosing a place and based on the responses about time - I think two years was acceptable to all. so why don't we try this. So there are two questions we need to start with:
1. When - is Agust 2011 a good time to shoot for? Is July or another month preffered?
2. Where would you like to reunion?
At this point all suggestions are open and close to two years to save, we hope to have everyone there. One suggestion is open a Reunion Savings Account and if you put even a few bucks aside each month you could have enough for your family to attend.
Well that's a start. I look forward to the next reunion even if it seems to be a long way off.
Your opinion counts so don't delay on your response. And at this point if you have two suggestions or your spouse's idea is different than yours, by all means post both ideas. We will narrow it down afterwords.
If you have a great idea and have a link to their website - send that along too. And if ou have a particular experience at one of yor suggested places, write about it so everyone can see.
That's all for now.

I think Manitou Springs, CO would be a great place. Beauty and nature all around. Aunt Roberta and Uncle Jim wouldn't even need to travel!
Why dont you guys meet me 1/2 way in Hawaii??? I've always wanted to go there!!!
Eillen - Manitou Springs??? They make it sounds a lot better than it really is. Tony lives in Manitou. It's not terrible, and there a a few things to do, but truthfully there are some really nice things to do around this area and some towns nearby that have great accommodations. If tehre is enough interst in Colorado, I will put some stuff together for everyone to see, but so far I have only two responses.
I've never been to Hawaii either Sandy. I've been to all 48 continental states, so that leaves two - AK & HI!!
How about a rodeo out west. Like frontier days in Wyoming or something in Colorado?
Mediterranean cruise
Ok where is everyone else?
Anyway, a cruise sounds awesome Rick! I'm up for that, but many say that is too expensive but we will leave it in the choices. (my mom's sister, Kathi, just went on a cruise and they paid like $379 for a 3-day cruise - I think for teh two of them total!) As far a Fronteir Days, talking to people around here, I've been told the best one is in Cheyenne, Wyoming. It's a week or 10 days long, I think in September, with lots of activities to attend. Only challenge with that is hotels are VERY expensive during Fronteir days.
I am still hoping to get some more input from others. If anyone reading this sees ro talks to other family, ask them to go to the blog and give their reunion ideas.
