Time to Start Thinking about Lodging

Good Morning Laverty's and descendants thereof!

It's probably time to start thinking about lodging. If we want to stay in the same place or find a place that will accommodate a family meeting room, now is not too soon. Not everyone will want to stay in the same exact location or share a house or even be available for the same dates. I'd like to suggest we find an area and then start adding links to possible spots. Next comes reservations. I'd like to suggest the Indian Point area. It is on Tablerock Lake and very close to Silver Dollar City. It allows for pretty quick access to Branson proper and all the attractions while still having access to "get outta town" for sporting and nature fun, caves, horseback riding, hiking, etc. I'll try to add a couple of lodging links tonight. I need get off to work now. Hope to hear your comments soon!

Probably not...there's hillbillies too! I think that's where they got the idea for Deliverance.

Any chance of getting to see those photos a bit bigger? I know that' has nothing to do with accommodations! But I want to see them!

Looks like there's lots to choose from. I'm not seeing on the calendars where they're booking that far out, but if we decide on a place, we may be able to book this early once we actually contact one.

Speaking from experience, we'll need to decide on how the cost is split before we book anything, on how you're splitting up - by family, by bedrooms needed per family, more if one couple gets a Queen the other gets a King, etc.

My family just splits it out by family, but we have more than one family that needs an extra bed or two for kids, and kids often share a bedroom. I think my one sister gets gypped because it's just the two of them, but she insists on the even split, figuring she could bring older kids, but doesn't.

I'm not advocating one way or another, but you do have to figure it out before you decide.

Also, one person will probably have to do the booking and make arrangements with the rental company. That person will deserve a free meal by the time we're done, because deposits and final payments need to be collected and forwarded, key pick-up arranged, questions asked and answered, etc.

Something else to think about when figuring out how to pay for lodging (per room vs. per adult vs. other ideas) is that some people will not be staying the entire week. I think figuring up partial visits may complicate things quite a bit and I do not have a proposal of how to handle them -- just thought it should be mentioned.

I've looked at the partial week and by the time you pay for 3 days, you've paid for an entire week. It's cheaper and easier to just go by the week and people show up when they can and stay as long as they can. I have a couple ideas of splitting costs that may make it a little more reasonable for the young folk without over burdening the old folk. I'll bring it to you when I've more clearly formulated it. This is the time when someone needs to win the lottery and pay for the whole thing. They get the KING size bed!

Here's another place. This would be more individual units, but might be more affordable overall, since it looks like as many as 10 or as few as 2 people can rent units.

My main concern is that to get a true reunion going, you need to be able to congregate and relax in the same place. If everyone is scattered all around Branson, you won't be able to have the late night or early morning chats that are the most memorable times at family get togethers.
