A New Addition to the Family - Gavin Riley Caylor-Fraser
I received a phone call like no other a week ago. It went, "Hey Mom, I'm a dad..." I hadn't shared this with anyone, but I've known this was a possibility for a few months. Gavin was born on February 1st (the same birthday as his cousin Joshua). About 17 days later Hugh got the confirmation that he's a dad. This was last Thursday. Saturday he was on a bus heading from NC to Wichita. Sunday, Danielle (Gavin's mom) picked him up at the station and introduced him to his son. I got to meet him on Monday. It really didn't take science to confirm to me that this is my grandson. He's Hugh with dark hair...right down to the freakishly long toes! He's just adorable. The most alert and happy baby. My son is totally taken with his boy. Danielle and Hugh are spending a lot of time together figuring out what's best for their boy. Hugh read a book on being a new dad all the way from NC. He's been teaching me about babies ;-) Danielle is very "into the whole mom thing" Hugh says and it's obvious when you see her with that baby. I'm very proud of my son and his sense of responsibility, loyalty, family and protectiveness over both Gavin and the mother of his child. Of course we're not sure what place Danielle will take in the family, but she's part of it one way or another now...poor lucky girl. I like her. She's strong (Hugh needs that) and she's protective of Gavin, she's hardworking and she hunts and fishes. What else could we ask for? I'll upload a picture as soon as I can. I get so excited whenever I'm around Gavin, I forget to get a picture! Isn't it funny how you try to plan life and life surprises, molds, and grows you?

Eileen,
I didn't know Hugh was gonna be a father or even had a girl friend. In fact I just assumed he was a virgin.
What gives?
Rick it is like a virgin going through menopause...what a waste of time.....
He has Laverty blood in his veins so you know he is a horn dog, look at the rest of us.
What? He's not a virgin? What else am I going to get surprised with?
It's Mom and Dad's fault!!! All that sex talk when we were kids! Who knew it would carry through the generations!!!!! Rick and Eileen if you don't know what I'm talking about I can explain later. Anyway, they sure do have a legacy now don't they!!!!!! Congratulations to Daddy Hugh!!
